Corgin Ltd recently took part in a riverbank clean-up along the River Trent, working alongside a representative from Trent Rivers Trust.
The initiative aimed to support local environmental efforts and raise awareness about river health - particularly relevant to the wastewater industry, where Corgin has strong ties.
The initiative brought together a diverse group of volunteers from across the company, including team members from engineering, finance, operations, R&D, sales, purchasing, hire, and senior leadership.
The group collected litter from the area, uncovering items such as a shopping trolley and a BBQ grill. In addition to litter picking, the team carried out water quality testing using a kit provided by Trent Rivers Trust. Measurements included pH, nitrate, and ammonia levels, helping to highlight the importance of monitoring pollutants that affect river ecosystems. Great news - the River Trent tested as neutral across all areas!
As a company that works closely with the wastewater industry, Corgin understands the challenges and dedication involved in keeping Britain’s rivers clean. This was a chance for Corgin to contribute directly and raise awareness about the importance of clean water.
The event also had its lighter moments - one team member, Peter, was spotted on a bridge above the rest of the group, prompting jokes about whether he’d taken an intentional detour or actually gotten lost. We may never know!
Corgin’s mission is “making it easier for those who care, about clean water and clean air,” and this initiative reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility and community engagement.
