The CyberFlow flow accelerator has been designed and optimized to give the most energy-efficient horizontal flow in carousels, annulus tanks and oxidation ditches.
Extensive CFD modelling has yielded efficiency gains of up to 30% over traditional ‘high-efficiency’ flow generators, regardless of the application. This has been made possible taking a holistic view of the fluid dynamics
Conventional flow generators have a direction of flow that first passes the drive unit and mounting structure. As a result, the flow is turbulent by the time it meets the impeller which results in significant efficiency losses.
The high-performance CyberFlow impeller acts on a completely undisturbed upstream flow, thereby achieving much higher flow speeds with less energy input than conventional flow generators. In effect the CyberFlow acts in the opposite direction to conventional designs, being much like an aeroplane propeller mounted on the front of a wing, rather than on the rear of a wing where it will be acting on turbulent air.
Not only do rotating propellers generate axial velocities, but they create radial and tangential velocities as well. However, only the axial component of the velocity contributes to horizontal flow. The other components produce ineffective vortices which cause energy dissipation, resulting in severe efficiency losses. The CyberFlow design includes an “anti-vortex” base frame which streamlines the flow and eliminates the vortex induced by the impeller. This, along with the additional “anti-vortex” fin above the drive unit, converts radial and tangential velocity components into axial flow. This optimised design allows traditional energy losses to be recovered – an industry first – and contributes significantly to the
