Waterless Dust Suppression at Scott Pallets with DustFast [VIDEO]

Scott Pallets has replaced repeated water-bowser applications with DustFast, a completely waterless treatment that controls dust generated by vehicle movements across its yard. The result is lower water consumption, fewer operational disruptions and a more efficient approach to surface dust suppression.

Six weeks after a single application, DustFast is still delivering excellent results. Even under comparable traffic conditions, little to no visible dust is produced, supporting safer working conditions, clearer visibility, better equipment protection and uninterrupted productivity.

Surface Dust Suppression

Persistent dust across unmade surfaces such as yards and haul roads is more than a housekeeping problem. At Scott Pallets, forklifts and heavy goods vehicles travelling over the dry surface produced visible dust plumes.

Production Manager Chris Bolton explains that airborne dust created concerns around workforce health and reduced visibility for vehicle operators and pedestrians. Dust could also enter equipment and vehicle electrics, increasing maintenance demands and affecting performance.

Why repeated watering was not the answer

Scott Pallets initially managed the problem by dampening the yard with a water bowser. During the height of summer, however, the surface could require applications every few hours.

Each treatment meant additional vehicle movements, time spent on dust control and further disruption to production. It also consumed water for a result that quickly disappeared as the surface dried.

Long-lasting, waterless surface dust suppression

Corgin applied DustFast to the unmade yard using a straightforward spray-bar system. The liquid is applied directly without dilution, where it absorbs into fine loose surface particles, increasing their weight and helping prevent them becoming airborne as vehicles pass.

For high-traffic yards, haul roads and stockyards, this approach offers practical benefits:

• no water is required for application or repeated damping down

That sustained performance gives Scott Pallets a more reliable and cost-effective way to control surface dust while reducing water consumption, repeated labour and operational disruption.

Chris admits that he was initially sceptical because the claimed performance appeared too good to be true. After the first application in 2024, the results changed his view. Scott Pallets is now using DustFast for a third consecutive year as a proven part of its summer dust control strategy.
